Second Hand Rose and my love for vintage!

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Rose is like an aunt whose closet you hope to rummage through to find eclectic pieces and various treasures that will give you a glimpse of what it was like during her younger years. Fortunately, Second Hand Rose gave me that exact feeling.  I was an hour early to her boutique, but she smiled as soon as she saw me and asked me to come in. We sipped on water and talked for hours about fashion, family and the box generation. She’s owned the boutique for years, and has recently been reconstructing her establishment to form a vintage museum on the top floor. I took plenty of pictures and purchased a cute skirt, among many other items, from her store.





 I purchased this 1950's skirt and paired it with a gray sweater from rue 21( which was on sale over the summer for $1)!

Sunday brunch with leopard heels

I spent my day looking at murals and enjoying a special lunch date with my love. I've noticed many murals throughout Richmond, this one in particular caught my attention this time around. This is all part of the Richmond Mural Project, and I am happy to see artists showing off their talents to a passerby like myself.

This is another one of my "wearing a dress like a skirt" combinations...I'll have to show off this dress one day. however, because it was cold out I decided to add a white turtle neck and a sweater vest over it. I finished the look off with an orange blazer.

4ever 21 Sweater Sale!!!!

We are on day one of Forever 21's sweater sale!
Usually, I would say check your thrift stores first before
purchasing from a chain store for sweaters, but hey 60% is a pretty nice discount. Be selective and be smart when it comes to your shopping.

TIP: often you will find stores like Forever 21 selling the exact same items if not similar. So, if you see something you really like, but it is out of your budget-shop around! Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 carry similar items and if you catch them on a good day you might be able to get it somewhere else cheaper ;-).

Both Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 are having sales right now. Even though  I shop at both stores I like to compare prices to determined who has the best bargains.

If Money Could Talk Post

If money could talk it would definitely tell me to get myself a few of these!

1. I would be ready for the winter with a coat like this on! None of these items are less than $1,000 each :/

2. Read my other post here on determining which colors of accessories compliment your skin tone the best. Mine is gold! I wear gold accessories almost everyday, on rare occasions I will deviate from it depending on my attire. Again, plan on spending your life savings on these!

A girl can dream...right?

Putting black and white together

 

 

I have a white blazer in my closet that I only tend to wear with other white clothing items. This time I decided to pair it with black just to see if I could pull it off. I went all black, added the white blazer and accentuated everything with gold accessories.

 

I love wearing gold. It seems to compliment my skin tone very well. knowing your skin's undertones can be helpful in deciding what accessories work and don't work with your complexion. In fact you can even test it out!

If you look better in gold accessories you probably have warm undertones. If silver accessories compliment you better, then you have cool undertones.

 

This is just a guide to go by. At the end of the day wear what you like and what works for you. however, If you really want to know what colors work best with you. Try them out and keep a mental note of the responses you get from friends and family or even your lover.

My First Photography Exhibit!

 

I had a wonderful time at my exhibit. I received so many positive reviews on the pictures. Thanks to everyone who came to support me!

I had put so much work into this showing. It goes to show that if you over come your fears there's so much that can be possible. I don't know where I plan on going from here, but with faith by my side I think my future will look brighter :)

 

P.S I've been asked to be a photographer at a breast cancer event :)

Rue 21: Sweater Sale

I went to this diner down the street from my apartment I had a wonderful time relaxing and sipping on my tea while watching everyone else enjoying their day.

Here is what I wore:

The skirt: RUE 21 ($5)
The Sweater (was on sale): RUE 21 ($1)
The Shoes: Were a gift

I can't complain this whole outfit was less than $10.00 :)
I went to Rue 21 when they were having this awesome sale at the end of May. I purchased 5 sweaters all $1.00 each. I was so excited I had to hold myself back from spending more money.

Don't forget it is better to shop for clothing items on seasons that they are not trending. For example I like buying winter clothes during the summer and summer clothes during the fall.
